Before the San Diego Free Door to Liberation (1969-1970), the newspapers Good Morning Teaspoon (1966-1968) and the San Diego Door (1968) merged, and became:
Teaspoon and the Door or T & D (1968) (1968);
Teaspoon Door (1968-1969);
San Diego Door to Liberation (1969).

These San Diego based newspapers were radical, underground publications that published news ignored or criticized by mainstream media, such as women's rights and the Black Panther Party. It often included a calendar of events as well.

It will eventually become:
The Door to Liberation (1970);
and finally Door (1970-1973).
