Mayer is an American pianist who won the Grand Prix du Disque Liszt for his recording of Liszt's Concerto Opus Posthumous and De Profundis with the London Symphony under Tamas Vasary. Mayer performed as a guest pianist with the San Diego Pops Orchestra in August of 1990 and 1991.
