Larson was elected to the Board of Directors of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra in 1981. At one point he served as the vice president of marketing and public relations. In 1985, he served on a committee formed to oversee day-to-day administration during the symphony's financial crisis. Handwritten and crossed out on the back of the print: "VP of Marketing + PR."
