Tatsuo Sasaki smiles with percussion mallets

 

1970s

 

 

Sasaki holds two mallets, resting his forearms on a draped stand. A Japanese timpanist and xylophonist, he studied at the Julliard School of Music as a Fulbright scholar. He became the principal timpanist with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra in 1973. Sasaki remained with the symphony until its financial crisis of 1986.
