Doctor Davies began his career at San Diego State University as an assistant professor of history in 1968, when he was a PhD candidate at the University of New Mexico. He retired in 2001 as professor emeritus, emeritus chair of the Latin American Studies Department, and director emeritus of the Center for Latin American Studies. Co-author of several books on Latin America, Davies serves as expert witness for immigrants to the United States threatened with deportation to Latin America, immigrants who fear torture and/or death if they return. Most of his cases have dealt with LGBTQ persons seeking asylum, and his affidavits of over 200 of these cases are preserved in this repository and collection. This talk was given in the Malcolm A. Love Library.
