"Somos Chingones" sign in Pride parade, 2001

An unidentified marcher carries a Mexican flag and holds the sign. While "somos" translates as "we are," "Chingones" may be used as slang ("awesome"), a vulgar expression ("badass"), or colloquial ("fantastic"). In the United States it's the vulgar expression, but in Mexico it may be translated as "annoying." Behind this marcher other flags are displayed by other marchers.
