Clare, Bill, Jr.
Clare is with the federalized 251st Coast Artillery (Antiaircraft) Regiment of the California Army National Guard stationed "in these Islands of 'paradise'" "due to circumstances beyond our control." There is beauty in the evenings "to write home about" but during the day it "looks quite dreary and exacting." He sends news of his sisters Barbara and Dorothy and blames his pen if the letter doesn't make sense or has mistakes in it.
