Boothby, Guy E.
Boothby is grateful for the addresses he requested and surprised that Tommy Chavis is married. Several men in his outfit got married in New Zealand. He alludes to the Battle of Tarawa in which he took part and to their next position on the "big island" of Hawaii at Camp Tarawa. There he experiences "cold, wind, dust, rain" on an "icy 'jewel' of the Pacific" as they build the camp and prepare for the assault on Saipan.
