Whigham says that the weather in Bremerton "is as I learned it in Geography II." He mourns his best friend Tom Cozens after a fatal plane crash in New Mexico when "the war system" "finally brought disaster to me and many others." He is sure many feel as he does in hoping to avenge "this loss of a true friend."
