Torres, Joseph C.
Torres endures desert maneuvers in heat up to 130 degrees Fahrenheit that caused a British commander fresh from Libya to be hospitalized. Blackouts mean driving mountain passes without lights, and raids on supplies mean no food or water. Being a Signal Office clerk is worse for dust and wind, "a very rough summer." Typing in blackout conditions he signs off and sends regards to Charles Peterson.
