Staff Sergeant Elfring feels nostalgic even though he only spent one semester at San Diego State College. Things are quiet in the South Pacific; the mail is slow and luxuries are fewer than in Hawaii. He hopes to attend Officer Candidate School shortly. He sends regards to Howard Cooper, Don Major and the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity brothers.
