Chase mentions flying the B-17E, a redesigned heavy bomber, with "no place in the schedule for sleep, so we do it in ground school." He awaits transfer to the 99th Bomb Group in Walla Walla while looking for Willard Wallace. The 99th Bombardment group was initiated in Boise, moved to Walla Walla and eventually deployed in Marrakech, Morocco in 1943.
