This aerial view shows how the hill was utilized in the constuction of the Bowl. The site of the Hollywood Bowl was chosen in 1919 by William Reed and his son H. Ellis, tasked with finding a suitable outdoor performance siite for the Theatre Arts Alliance. Before it officially opened on July 11, 1922, at least two concerts and an Easter sunrise service had taken place. This card resembles a Real Photo Post Card, but was made in Scotland, probably a collotype. The picture strongly resembles aerial photographs in the online collection of the Water and Power Associates for 1929.
