[Curt Teich & Co., Inc., Chicago, Illinois ]
Castle Sans Souci (castle without a care) was built in 1912 by Doctor Alfred Castles (born Schloesser, meaning "castles"), who changed his name during World War I to avoid anti-German sentiment in the United States. This was his second castle, the first having proved to be too small. Another postcard identifies the staircase as the one used in the movie "Tillie's Punctured Romance" (1914). The number on the back of the card is R-50064, which, though unacknowledged, belongs to Curt Teich. According to the guide maintained by the Curt Teich Postcard Archives, the number indicates 1914.
