What we saw at Catalina--Harold "Whitey" Packman, deep sea diver
Divers like Packman went to the seafloor to point out interesting plants and animals and sometimes retrieve specimens for the passengers on glass-bottom boats. On the back is printed "What we saw at Catalina," and Packman's record of diving for 3 minutes and 19 seconds to a depth of 57 feet. The stampbox claims that the postage required is 2 cents, which is significant, because until 1952 all domestic postcard postage was one cent except for the years 1917-1918 and 1925-1928. The back of the postcard also has a list of animals and plants that can be seen living on the seafloor.
