Van Ornum Colorprint Co., Los Angeles, California
As one steamship ferry arrives, another is leaving. Some of the small boats beside the steamship may be carrying young islanders who would dive for coins the passengers would throw into Avalon Bay. The motto on the divided back,
"On the Road of a Thousand Wonders," indicates that the island was considered a destination for a promotion of The Coast Line-Shasta Route of the Southern Pacific, which had a spur to the California mainland end of the steamship route. Brochures for this promotion are known from 1907 to 1908. The publisher's number on the back is E 22.
