Hotel Metropole in Avalon, Catalina Island, California

 

 

 

 

This view of the Metropole Hotel (built 1888) in Avalon includes the aquarium at the Crescent Street end of the Steamer Pier. This card could have been produced any time between March 1, 1907, when postal regulations changed to allow divided backs like this one has, and November of 1915, when it burned down along with one-third to one-half the town of Avalon.
