In the left foreground is the roof of Holly Hill House, formerly known as Lookout Cot, built by Peter Gano in 1890. Beyond its cupola is the Green Pleasure Pier, and beyond it is the Steamer Pier. Making for its pier is a steamship ferrying passengers from San Pedro. On the left is the town of Avalon, stretching into Avalon Canyon. Near the top of the middle palm tree, defining the northern edge of Avalon Bay, is the Catalina Casino Building, the equivalent of 12 stories high, containing the Avalon ballroom of radio fame. The number on the back of the card is 5C-K347, which, according to the guide maintained by the Curt Teich Postcard Archives, translates to 1955.
