Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains, California
According to the scope note for the Frye & Smith Photograph Collection at the San Diego History Center, their photographs were taken from the 1930s to the 1950s. The back of the card bears the number 5258, and there is a logo with a United States highway sign with the initials "F&S" on the inside and the word "Highway" above it and "Color by Bolty" below it. This suggests that Frye & Smith had a "Highway" series of postcards. The structure shown is the remnant of the 1884 Big Bear Lake dam used by fishermen as a pier.
