An unidentified student operates the controller of the IRI/M50 industrial robot. The lighting unit on the ceiling may be the one Professor George Mansfield said was broken by the robot when it was first installed. This robot was acquired by San Diego State University from International Robomation Intelligence partly in return for research knowledge. Nine graduate students and a visiting professor from Israel, Zev Tal, programmed the robot with Mansfield coordinating. The Daily Aztec story about its acquisition (September 12, 1983, page 5) shows an undergraduate senior, Brian Ganz, controlling the robot arm. The student with the controller is the same person as in NEG-00-772, NEG-00-781, and NEG-00-787.
