Unidentified students with George A. Mansfield (far left with his back to the camera), Professor of Mechanical Engineering at San Diego State Unversity. On the right is an IRI/M50 industrial robot in resting position. The robot was acquired from International Robomation Intelligence partly in return for research knowledge. Nine graduate students and a visiting professor from Israel, Zev Tal, programmed the robot with Mansfield coordinating. The Daily Aztec story about its acquisition (September 12, 1983, page 5) shows an undergraduate senior, Brian Ganz, controlling the robot arm. The student with the controller and ribbon of wires leading to the robot is the same person as in NEG-00-774, NEG-00-781, and NEG-00-787.
