This is a continental-size, deckle picture postcard with an aerial view of the hospital in the old location at Inspiration Point. Construction was started in 1922 after a tent dispensary established in 1914 was expanded. More land was deeded to the Navy, and finally a new Naval Medical Center in Florida Canyon, Balboa Park, was dedicated in 1988. The back of the card has a statement claiming that the hospital occupied "84.32 acres, 83 buildings, a bed capacity of more than 2000, and daily census of over 1800. The tall white building is the new 1000-bed surgical unit" built in 1957. The publisher's number on the back is 8367-C.
