The Hotel Churchill, shown here on a hand-tinted picture postcard and separated from the buildings around it, was opened in 1915, in time for the Panama-California Exposition. It was built by Orrin Churchill and is due tor reopening in 2015 after restoration started 2013. After it had been vacant for eight years, the plan in 2013 by the owner since 2011, the San Diego Housing Commission, was to turn the building into low-incoming housing. This view shows the building before a top story was added by 1926. The Curt Teich number R86685 on the back decoded to year 1921.
