Park Manor Hotel
The Park Manor Hotel is represented on this picture postcard in a "Natural Color Reproduction." Designed and built in 1926 by Frank P. Allen, Jr. (1881-1943), this hotel was originally known as the Park Manor Apartment Hotel. In 1991, as the Park Manor Suites, it was designated a historic site by the City of San Diego, requiring that the facade be preserved. It underwent a $3 million renovation between 2005 and 2007, including a seismic retrofit. The owner at that time was a trust that took over operations after the 1978 demise of former owner Stanley Willis II. After its sale in 2011 to Shell Vacations, the newly renamed Inn at the Park continued to operate as a hotel. On the back of the card, the stamp box calls for a 2-cent stamp, a rate inaugurated in 1952.
