There are photographs in the San Diego History Center collection that match this hotel, dated 1914 (#1874, #5) and 1913 (#927). One view appears to show a large "Hotel Knickerbocker" sign on the roof, but neither has the flagpoles. The proprietor listed on this card is Mr. Omer C. Thompson, and on another card the owner is listed as Thompson & Mackay Co. The hotel is listed in the Greeters' Guide for the Tourist, Vol. II of June 1921, No. 8 (Google Book), but the only address discovered is the one given on this card, a corner of Third Avenue and E Street. The J. M. Scheer number on this card is 94103.
