Real Photo Post Card of an unidentified private residence in San Diego, with no location given
This Real Photo Post Card of a private home with a driveway, trees, sidewalk, verge, and unpaved road must have been processed between 1907 and 1918, when the paper used to process the photograph onto the postcard backing was manufactured. The Real Photo process allowed amateur and professional photographers to take "snap shots," deliver the film to a photo-finishing shop, and take away postcards ready for mailing. Even though this particular paper was made as early as 1904, it was not until 1907 that postal regulations allowed the so-called "divided back" printed on this card to be used--with a "correspondence" area separate from the address. So this card showing an unidentified house, presumably in San Diego given the nature of this postcard collection, was made in the date range 1907-1918. The postcard has no marks except for the photograph shown here, and the stamp box (which gives a logo corresponding to the dates of paper manufacture), the words "Post Card" and the division line and instructions to put "Correspondence Here" and "Name and Address Here" on the back.
