C. T. Photochrom (Curt Teich)
This picture postcard is numbered 4528 and copyrighted 1911. The Curt Teich postcard number on the back, however, is R-18349, decoded to 1910. Point Loma is labeled on the far left of this hand-tinted photograph of an aerial view of San Diego, and in the center and to the left of center is North Island in San Diego Bay. The northern part of Coronado ("Coronado Island") was separated from the southern part until 1943 when the Spanish Bight dividing the islands was filled in during the development of the naval station later known as Naval Air Station North Island (here labeled as "U. S. Aviation Field." The U. S. Grant Hotel is identifiable toward the bottom middle of the photograph, facing onto Broadway, a wide street leading to the docks. Also distinguishing this postcard from PC-000-693 is the style of seal of the Panama-California Exposition in the message area on the back of the postcard.
