The makers of this type of photographic reproduction process, called "Plastichrome," first applied for a trademark in 1965, but the process was used in the 1950s. On the left at the top is Point Loma, with the Pacific Ocean beyond toward the top, and Harbor Island just below. San Diego Bay stretches from the left side of the card below Harbor Island to just below the San Diego International Airport in about the middle of the card toward the top of the land mass. The photograph is oriented more or less west-east, looking northwest toward Harbor Island. Two piers ae shown jutting into San Diego Bay at the left from the downtown area. One of these is most likely the Broadway Pier, which accommodates the Coronado ferry.
