Picture postcard of Harbor Island Marina, San Diego, California
Clay Scott, El Cajon, California
This is a photographic picture postcard of the "Harbor Island Marina" in San Diego, California, in 2013 known as the Harbor Island West Marina. Harbor "Island" is a peninsula created in 1961 from harbor dredging and consists of boat marinas, restaurants, hotels, and a park under the control of the Port of San Diego. Shown in the photograph are the boat slips (560 at the time the photograph was taken), boathouse, and swimming pool, as well as parking lot. The marinas project toward the mainland from the 2-mile-wide T-shaped "island," so the view on the postcard is looking toward the northeast where the Spanish Landing Park, North Harbor Drive, and the San Diego International Airport are situated in 2013. This marina and the associated Boathouse Restaurant are near the west end of the "island." This type of postcard is called a "chrome" from the type of printing process. The publisher's number onthe back is KV5652.
