1900s

This picture postcard is essentially the same as one produced by The Albertype Co., Brooklyn, New York, but with slightly different coloring. It shows two people sitting on a bench looking at a view of San Diego from "the Park." This "glimpse of San Diego, Cal., from the Park" had to have been taken before City Park was renamed Balboa Park in 1910. The renaming was in preparation for the Panama-California Exposition of 1915. The photograph is rendered in sepia tone on this picture postcard. On the horizon can be seen Point Loma on the right and a portion of San Diego Bay between the immediate shore and Coronado.
