Picture postcard of the First Congregational Church at Sixth and A Street, San Diego, California
The original church building depicted in this hand-colored picture postcard, built by George Marston (1850-1946) at the corner of Sixth Avenue and A Street in San Diego, was declared unsafe in 1962 and was sold in 1971. The congregation had organized in 1886, and they eventually voted to merge with the Mission Hills United Church of Christ, in 2013 located at 4070 Jackdaw Street in San Diego. This card carries the statement that it was "Made in Germany." The number upside down in the stampbox might be a Curt Tech number. If so, it corresponds to the 1900-1908 period, 62042. The publisher operated between 1901 and 1915, and their number on the back next to the Rieder information is 4983.
