Old Damascus Restaurant

This picture postcard gives two locations on the reverse of the image side, one at 1000 Prospect Street, La Jolla, California, and the other at 3683 Fifth Avenue, San Diego, California. It is not clear which location the image represents. The La Jolla address in 2013 appears to be the site of a Smashburger restaurant. The R-Gang Eatery occupies the San Diego address in this same year (started 2010). In some years in between the Old Damascus and the R-Gang Eatery eras the building housed Barsalacchi's on Fifth. The reverse of the card advertises "Near Eastern food and drinks in authentic Arabian atmosphere, under a sheik's tent." The menu included shishkabob (pictured in cartoon fashion on a sword on the back) and Turkish Delight. No publisher is given, although the "Photo by Seal" notation on the back is next to a logo featuring the letter "K." The number printed on a line with the "photo by" attribution is 88801.
