In 2013, the spelling has changed to "orangutan," and these animals are classified as "endangered," according to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources). This orangutan, Akhup, is sitting with its right elbow on a ledge and arm upraised, with its hand leaning against a fence. Behind it is part of the concrete floor and more fencing at the San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park, San Diego, California. The Curt Teich number in the stampbox is 0DK-158, decoded to the year 1960.
