Two hippopotamuses appear to be grzing on the ground in their enclosure in the San Diego Zoo
Actual Photo Co., La Jolla, California, US
The animals shown in this self-described "Actual Photo" are stated to be "Hippopotamuses." The two hippopotamuses in the picture are close to each other, facing more or less in the same direction, and appear to be grazing, an activity in which wild hippos engage when they emerge from water typically at dusk to eat grass. Hippos (or hippopotami) are classified in 2013 as "vulnerable" by the IUCN Red List (International Union for Conservation of Nature). The image is an actual photograph rather than a printed reproduction. The back of the card states that it was "finished in West Germany." There are two numbers on the back of the card: ZA 81 and (P215).
