The message portiion of this black-and-white collotype picture postcard states that the bird depicted is a "Crested Screamer--So. America" in the San Diego Zoo. This bird is also known as the southern screamer and has gray plumage, with a bare patch of skin showing as white above the black feathers on the neck. The crest at the back and the hooked beak cannot be clearly seen in this image, which appears to be a photograph. The San Diego Zoo is in Balboa Park, San Diego, California.
