California Tower and western entrance on El Prado street, Balboa Park, San Diego, California
E. C. Kropp Company, Milwaukee, WI
The California Tower was designed by Bertram Goodhue (1869-1924) and constructed forthe Panama-California International Exposition of 1915 held in San Diego's Balboa Park. This view looks from the east along El Prado street at the west entrance arch to Balboa Park (formerly City Park), leading onto Cabrillo Bridge. Glimpsed through the trees on the right is the Veterans of Foreign Wars Building, constructed for the 1915 Exposition as the Science and Education Building, later known as the Palace of Photography and the Medical Arts Building. It was demolished in the 1960s.
