The Balboa Park Municipal Golf Course is an 18-hole course on the East Mesa of what was dedicated as City Park in 1868. In 2010 it was described by park management as a "par 72" course, with canyons intervening in the hilly greens. This municipal course includes a 9-hole "Executive Course." Located in San Diego with views of the Pacific Ocean, it is maintained year round and constitutes over 21 percent of Balboa Park's 1,200 acres. Constructed in 1921, it was renovated in 1996.
