Botanical Building and Lagoon, Balboa Park
The Botanical Building and Lagoon, also known as the Lily Pond in San Diego's Balboa Park. Alternately named La Laguna de las Flores, the large south pond is separated (but flows from) the north pond (lagunita) by the footbridge visible toward the left as a whitish structure between the building and the water. The building houses a conservatory and was designed by the architectural firm of Bertram Goodhue (1881-1943), for the Panama-California Exposition of 1915. The roof of the Botanical Building is redwood lath, open to the weather, so the building is sometimes called the "Lath House."
