Turquoise Room of Cafe Del Rey Moro in the House of Hospitality, Balboa Park, San Diego
The Turquoise Room of the former Cafe Del Rey Moro (replaced by The Prado restaurant at Balboa Park) once contained the collection of American Indian arts and crafts of Mr. and Mrs. Garner P. Dicus, managers of the Cafe in the House of Hospitality in San Diego's Balboa Park from 1962-1964. The House of Hospitality was originally constructed for the Panama-California International Exposition of 1915-1916 as the Foreign Arts Building (also known as the Foreign Liberal Arts Building), designed by architect Carleton M. Winslow (1910-1946). It was eventually demolished, then rebuilt in 1993, housing the Balboa Park Visitors Center, police department,The Prado restaurant, gift ship, and offices of cultural and educational programs.
