My dear Mrs. Halsey:
I find I cannot grant your request for the little table, next to the door, the principal for which is, that Mrs Harris has made repeated requests for that same table (which I think she occupied last year), and she no doubt would take offense were we to set it aside for your use now.
There are as you know requests from members of the Ranger party on file for four of these individual tables, and we cannot grant the request of one without offending the remainder. As you further know, we are making reduced rates, the lowest we have made to any boarders in the hotel, and we cannot afford, in justice to ourselves, during the months of February and March, to set aside these little tables for their exclusive use. After April 1st we will have plenty of room, and shall then be pleased to do so. Now, however, we have to look at it in a business light, and reserve these tables, which are the most sought for, for the highest priced guests which we can reasonable expect in the coming eight weeks.
I hope you will view the matter in a light favorable to our management, and not feel hurt because we believe it necessary to decline your request.
