A pocket reference card on the table identifies the system in this series of photographs as an IRI/M50 Robot. The IRI (International Robomation Intelligence) M50 was a computer-controlled, 5-axis robot arm for industrial uses. Mansfield was Professor of Mechanical Engineering and coodinator of the group working on the robot that included nine graduate students and a visiting professor from Israel, Zev Tal. The man to the left of Professor Mansfield is unidentified.
