At this time the 11th Naval District was headquartered in San Diego, and Cleator was a Store Keeper Third Class in the Commissary Department there. He says that where he is "Everybody is from Oklahoma." He addresses his letter to "Dear Fighting Aztecs" with the remark that "[Lauren] Post is sure putting all he's got into this news letter," having met him at a dance.
