Brown, LaVerne W., Jr.
Brown hears that this summer "a lot of instructors are going to leave" San Diego State College for the armed forces. A midshipman, he was identified as a cadet, a bad thing. "A Caydet is a draft dodger in a queer gray uniform, who attends the Army's second lieutenant factory at West Point." He looks forward to his "town liberty" even though nearby "Crabtown is like a bit of nothing that landed in the middle of nowhere, quite by accident."
