Alverson, Franklin G.
Writing on United Service Organizations (USO) stationery, Alverson reports that he is in the Air Borne Engineers but all they do is walk in basic training. He got his first pay and "never was so glad to see a greenback in my life." Not being able to remember "what climate zone this was in" probably refers to a course in geography taught by Lauren Post. He doesn't like the weather.
