After Good Morning Teaspoon (1966-1968) and the San Diego Door (1968) merged, the newspaper was called "Teaspoon and the Door" or "T & D" (1968), followed by "Teaspoon Door" (1968-1969).

These San Diego based newspapers were radical, underground publications that published news ignored or criticized by mainstream media, such as women's rights and the Black Panther Party. It often included a calendar of events as well.

They will eventually become:
The San Diego Door to Liberation (1969);
The San Diego Free Door to Liberation (1969-1970);
The Door to Liberation (1970);
and finally Door (1970-1973).
Reproductions of photographs of James Kavanaugh and Earl Collins are on the front page.
