The tape begins with the orchestra tuning up, continues with applause, probably for the conductor, Akeo Watanabe, and the national anthems of Japan and the United States are played (clearly at an incorrect speed, which accounts for the length of this sound file, about 47 minutes for the entire concert). These are followed by Ward's "Jubilation--an Overture," Mayuzumi's "Essay for String Orchestra," and Bruch's "Concerto No. 1 in G. Minor," Opus 26. Joseph Fuchs is the violin soloist for the Bruch piece. Before the Mayuzumi piece there is a speaker who cannot be understood at the present speed. After an intermission not acknowledged on the tape, the Symphony plays Brahms' "Symphony Number 1 in C Minor," Opus 68.
