Cardwell Motor Court, San Diego, California, US
The Cardwell Motor Court was the next enterprise of the owners of the Casa de Pico, which had been financed with the help of San Diego entrepreuneur George Marston. This is a vintage multi-view lithographed postcard in a sepia tone showing on the left the office and lobby of the motel, and on the right "a quiet corner" in the internal court. At bottom is a depiction of the motel from across the highway that may be based on a photograph, as were the other two pictures. One seller dated it in the 1940s, which would be compatible with the style of the postcard and the date of the opening of the Casa de Pico, on the success of which this motel was built.
