This picture postcard from the "Animal Color Series from the San Diego Zoo" identifies the animal in this image section as a "Slender Loris" from South India & Ceylon. The Latin name given in the message section, Loris tardigradus, is that of the red slender loris, but unless the color register is off in this apparent photograph, this is a gray slender loris (Loris lydekkenanus). According to the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources), in 2013 the red slender loris is "endangered," while the gray slender loris is of "least concern." The animal is shown looking into the camera with its characteristic large orange eyes, with one leg in the crook of a climbing structure, the other higher on the same branch, and its right foreleg holding onto another branch. The San Diego Zoo is in Balboa Park, San Diego, California. The Curt Teich number on the back (PC-000-473B) is 9DK-184, decoded to 1969.
