A female Sumatran tiger is shown lying down in the picture portion of this color picture postcard. The image appears to be hand-tinted. The inscription stateas that the image is of a "Sumatran, Tigress in Open Air Grotto, Zoological Gardens, San Diego, Calif." The San Diego Zoo is in Balboa Park. In 2013 this animal is labeled "Critically Endangered" by the the IUCN Red List (International Union for Conservation of Nature). The publisher operated from 1914-1934.
