A Real Photo Post Card (RPPC) showing a group of 7 penguins standing next to the pond in their enclosure in the San Diego Zoo
EKC photo paper
This is a Real Photo Post Card (RPPC) made with EKC photo paper (as evidenced in the stampbox on the back of this card). The Real Photo process allowed photographers to take a "snap shot" and have it finished at a photo shop that printed it out on postcard backing for mailing. EKC papers were made from 1930-1950. The penguins in this photograph look like Magellanic penguins, with their characteristic white banding across black feathers. The colony of seven penguins is standing on the edge of water, presumably in their enclosure at the San Diego Zoo. The San Diego Zoo is in Balboa Park, San Diego, California.
